Minimum Qualifications
· Five years of experience conducting NCDAC trainings
· Current certifications in the following:
o Current General Instructor from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
o Control Restraints & Defensive Techniques (CRDT) Instructor from the NC Department of Corrections
o Firearms Instructor (including updated GLOCK handgun block) from the NC Department of Corrections
· Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support and CPR certification
· Ten years of experience in the field of Corrections
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in criminal justice or a related field
· Ten years of experience conducting NCDAC trainings
· Current NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission and Department of Correction Instructor certifications in one or more of the following:
o Monadnock Expandable Baton Instructor
o Cell Extraction Instructor
o OC Aerosol Instructor
o AHA CPR Instructor
o HIS CPR/First Aid Instructor
o Staff and Offender Relations Instructor
o HIS/CPR/ First Aid Instructor
o Security Risk Group Instructor
o Unlawful Workplace Harassment Instructor
o Prescription for Hope and Perseverance (Mental Health) Instructor

Position Description
| Job Description |
The NCDAC (North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections) Basic and Recertification Instructor is a part-time position located on the Lockhart-Taylor Center Campus in Wadesboro, NC. Under the direction of the Director of Correctional Programs, the NCDAC Basic and Recertification Instructor is responsible for delivering mandatory and optional trainings for NCDAC staff in Community Supervision, Corrections, the Office of Staff Development, and Juvenile Justice. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to include day, evening, and some weekend classes.

| Job Duties |
· Teach approved NCDAC curriculum for all In-Service and Basic Correctional Officer trainings offered for certified and non-certified NCDAC staff positions.
· Facilitate learning through engaging classroom activities that support student success and skill development.
· Use a variety of assessment techniques to monitor progress and enhance learning outcomes.
· Incorporate emerging technologies and alternative delivery methods – including online delivery, blended/hybrid formats, content software, and web enhancements – appropriately to meet diverse learning needs.
· Provide students and peers with a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, character, and citizenship.
· Manage and maintain registration and reporting documentation as required for Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) generation.
· Support the administration and delivery of training programs in compliance with South Piedmont Community College policies, internal audit procedures, and applicable rules and regulations.
· Assist in recruiting and registering students and in the recruitment of adjunct faculty.
· Work cooperatively with all directors, faculty, staff, and correctional facility personnel to ensure smooth operations and program success.
· Participate in program reviews, conduct research and surveys, and prepare updates, reports, and plans to support program growth and accountability.
· Demonstrate professionalism in developing and implementing both short- and long-range plans aligned with the philosophy of a Learning College.
· Continue professional development to strengthen instructional techniques, stay current with industry standards, and acquire any required certifications listed in the Preferred Qualifications section that are not yet held.
· Accept teaching assignments based on the needs of the College, which may include:
o LL Polk Campus (Polkton)
o Old Charlotte Highway (Monroe)
o Community locations in Anson and Union counties
o Correctional settings within Anson County
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Correctional Education, Associate Vice President of Business and Workforce Solutions, and Vice President of Business and Workforce Solutions.
